24/7 CRISIS HELP
Since 1995, the Missouri Gaming Association has voluntarily funded 1-888-BETSOFF, a free 24/7 problem gambling telephone crisis line and referral service.
Problem gamblers and their families also can email email@example.com. Managed by Life Crisis Services, both services put callers in touch with trained staff who understand their situation and can refer them to free resources in their area.
FREE COUNSELING & TREATMENT
Compulsive gamblers who are Missouri residents and their immediate families can access free treatment from specially trained and certified private mental health counselors and clinics.
Treatment is provided through the Missouri Department of Mental Health and paid for by the Compulsive Gamblers Fund, which receives a portion of each patron admission fee paid by the casinos.
The Missouri Gaming Association was instrumental in establishing this dedicated fund through the Missouri General Assembly.
The Missouri Gaming Association is a charter member of the Missouri Alliance to Curb Problem Gambling, which increases awareness about problem gambling. develops prevention and education programs for all ages, and directs problem gamblers and their families to free counseling and treatment.
Other Alliance members include the Missouri Department of Mental Health, Missouri Gaming Commission, Missouri Lottery, Kansas City Port Authority and the non-profit advocacy group Missouri Council on Problem Gambling Concerns, Inc.
PROJECT 21 SCHOLARSHIPS
The Project 21 Scholarship educates youth about underage gambling and provides college scholarships each year. Students across Missouri are invited to apply by creating original essays, videos and posters that educate their peers on the illegality and danger of underage gambling.
The 2017 Project 21 scholarship application is available here or by calling (573) 634-4001.
